Rape
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

I still cannot get my mind around that word, let alone the actions involved in it. When i hear the word rape i feel a chill go down my back and travel throughout my whole body. How can someone be so sick as to rape someone? I truly believe it is a mental illness. An average sane person does not go around "raping people". Something truly has to be wrong with that person. So by sending that person to jail, society does not beenfit in any way or does the person. That person does not recieve the help he needs. And in his mind he will think its okay to do something of that sort again. Espically those pedophiles who rape and moelst chidlren. It is not someting natural, it is a sick disease, and yet people believe by sending these people to jail they will be looked away from ever harming anyone again. How about when they are out of jail, what proof is there that they have changed the way they think? Officals and specailists in these feilds need to take a closer look at these people and get them the help the require.
One of the biggest missions in my life, and i hope to accomplish one day, is to help those rape victims, help sexually abused children, espically those in developing countries where they dont have the proper resources and facilites to help these poeple.
I want to give these poeple justice, that they would never get
I want to speak up for them, as they are silenced by culture, religion and the society they belong to
We need to speak up for these rape victims and help them

Malnutrition
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

I was doing my daily reading as usual on BBC, when i came across a aritcle about malnutrition. It discusses how children in the province of ( ) in India are 60% malnourished. Raising food prices around the world are not helping the situation. These people as it is do not have enough money to buy food, and the more the prices go up the harder it is for them to be get food. This link is to the atricle i read and it is very shocking and eye opening.

"Infidel"
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

I walked into Coles the other day not thinking of buying anything at all. Browsing the book shelves and finding nothing appealing to read, I came across a novel called "Infidel" by Ayaan Hirsi Ali. I am half way through this novel and i can't seem to put it down, i have managed to read 170pages in a day. I can not stop telling everyone i bump into about this book.
Ayaan is a girl who has lived through it all. She has experienced FGM, abuse, seen her country fall apart, and many other countries around her, and yet she has managed to keep her head up high. She has seen her father leave them to help fight for his country, and watched her mother go to relatives houses to ask for money, just so they could survive. Ayaan has walked through war torn parts of Somalia and Kenya, only to see family memebers; aunts, cousins, uncles, beg and plea for her to take them back with her. She is left helpess as she does not have the funds to do so. This is only what i have read so far, and i'm not even half way through. From hearing others speak about this book, i know in this novel i will discover what else she has experienced through her life, and what has made her a stronger person than she already was as a child.
But one thing that shocked me the most today was when i was talking to a fellow classmate of mine in politics class. He said he hated this women, and that she was a disgrace to all Muslims and Muslim women around the world, and a disgrace to man kind. I stood there in shock. How could he judge her without even reading the book, without even knowing who she was. His argument was she was freaking out because she went through FGM, and ran away to the Netherlands because she couldn't face her own people. This was completly not true. As i argued with him on this issue he said that i was being the stupid one for believing what this girl had to say. I just looked at him and walked away. He was the ignorant one. How could he say all this? All this because she is standing up for something she dosen't believe in and speaking up for all those who are silenced. I give her credit and condem her for her actions, and tell all those not to judge her unless you have read this novel and than you can judge her.

All i can say is... everyone should grab a copy of this novel and judge for themselves.

Family and Aids

I still can't believe it happend in my family. How could this happen? Why did it happen? My uncle passed away 3 years ago from hiv and aids. A few weeks ago before his death he had become very sick and he just told me it was a little cold everytime i talked to him on the phone in India. He lived in India with his family. The night befor his death i talked to him. He was soo happy telling me all these jokes as usual and making me laugh. After hanging up the phone.. i sat in my aunts bedroom as she broke the news to me about him having aids. At that moment i knew he wasn't going to live it was to late. nothing could be done. I was very angry no one had told me he was infected with aids. The next morning we recieve a phone call from India telling us that he had passed away. All i could do was just sit, cry and scream. I was mad.. why didin't no one tell me..why aren't people more educated in these countries where everything is hidden because it is a shameful thing . i wanted answers and i got none. From that day forward i told myself i was going to educate myself and people around me on this epidemic. As a result of him have aids.. his wife is also infected with it. All this due to the lack of education and people now being aware. A few months ago i found out a cousin of mine in India who is about 24yrs old also has aids. i know that if people were more educated and people were more aware of these things..aids could be prevented from spreading and one day be history. SPREAD THE WORD
