World Youth Congress 2008
About this event: 4th World Youth Congress - Quebec City 2008

Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

I have been in Quebec City for 5days now and i can not explain in words how much i have learned here. I have met people from places such as Australia, Morroco, Turkey, Rawana, South Korea, Egypt, Venezula and the list just seems to carry on. The world youth walk was amazing, even though it was a long 2 hour walk it was very much enjoyable. Everyone was dancing singing and taking loads of pictures. Everyone truly had a great time plus the fact that it didnt rain.

One workshop that i really enjoyed attending was poverty reduction strategies and empowering youth. In this workshop thr group was divided into half one side was people with experince in poverty reduction and the other empowering youth. Instead of the instructer teaching us and speaking to us, we as a group came up with our own action plan. It was very interesting what people had to say about there expeinces and what they have done in there communites.

I truly am having a great time and this is truly an experience of a life time

Hello Dear
I just wanna ask u not to forget that some people are punished just because of their nationalities without being guilty. Palestinian youth couldn't attend this congress cuz of the damn situation in the Palestinian land and the fact the all are under the siege and can't move outside. The Canadian Embassy even prevented a Yemen guy form getting a visa to the congress and the only reason was "his nationality" and the virtual fear of terrorism as if all Muslims or Arabs are terrorists!!!

I would kindly ask you to discuss about this issue in the final recommendation meeting and trying to find some way or strategy to make the appropriate steps to respect the human being and rights whatever were their nationalities.

Enjoy you time and have a lot of joy and fun. 

hi guys!
sorry for the late reply, it is very unfortunate that many people were not able to attend. I don't think it is the fact that "muslims" or "arabs" are terrorist or there is nothing linked to that. They feel that many people were unstable and did not think they would come back to their native land, and decide to stay in Canada. For example only 2 people came from Pakistan after a llong and hard fight and the girl was telling me that they thoought she many not return back to Pakistan. There were quite a few people from the Middle East.

And Andrea i miss you dearly as well just how i miss everyone else. Hopefully me meet up again in Turkey :)...You should come to Civicus conference, its happening in Montreal next summer :)
